the 1903 update?

Recommended Posts

My game is crashing after every game and it's hard to even load into servers. My update history shows the 1903 update was installed 7/28 and I'm just encountering this problem within the last week  really. So I'm not sure if it's really that update that's the problem but I have tried the following to fix it:
Reinstalled quakelive
Reinstalled steam and quake live
Running as an administrator (always)
Compatibility mode Windows 8 and windows xp service pack 3

it actually seems worse with Windows 8 compatibility mode...but anyway..I'm not sure what to do next.
Any suggestions are appreciated, thank you.

Bile

Have you updated your video drivers since the 1903 update? Just a thought.

1903 went smooth here. I did have problems a while back with Quake live and another Windows update, but the problems went away on their own (I think).

In your baseq3 folder there should be an error.log

Does this only happen with QL?

Cpu/gpu temps ok?

After trying to help bile some while on the server I am thinking his might be a config based issue. When I reinstalled awhile back I had some issues and deleted everything and started over. I was still having an issue until I used safe mode a few times and it worked. So I rewrote my config again and entered the few questionable items one at a time. I haven't had any issues since except after the 1903 update and it was fixed easy enough. I think certain values exceed quakes abilities and it becomes a conflict.

I don't know why it says my cpu is a intel pentium III because I'm using a ryzen 7 1700x

I reinstalled last night without using my cfg, but some how it loaded it back up.

I have steam cloud off but from when I had it on it has 201.94 kb stored.

BTW, did your new build solve your stuttering screen problem?

yes it did but oddly enough i still have the 0.1 second delay when i see enemies after turning a corner.. takes like a split second for them to load in and appear on my screen.. ive just became used to it at this point but quake absolutely runs very smooth now

I fixed my quakelive if anyone is having problems here's what solved mine. I had some backups and stuff saved on my computer under other folders.. so instead of uninstalling quake I searched my hard drive and deleted all quake files then uninstalled(not sure if the uninstall did anything but...) then I reinstalled and setup my cfg again and it's fixed now. I'm also not running it under any compatibility modes anymore just admin.
